Dail Williams is a visual artist, based in Chicago, whose work explores the intersections of memory, place, and color through vibrant, geometric compositions. Drawing inspiration from her travels, personal experiences, and family connections, she creates abstract pieces that capture the emotional resonance of moments in time. Her Here & There series distills the essence of locations through carefully curated color palettes, while her People We Love series offers intimate color portraits that celebrate the presence and memory of loved ones. Dail’s work invites viewers to reflect on their own experiences and the shared language of color.
As an artist, I explore the intersections of memory, place, and color, translating moments of personal experience into vibrant, geometric compositions. My work is deeply rooted in the idea of how color can evoke a sense of time and space, capturing the essence of both the familiar and the foreign. The Here & There series reflects my ongoing fascination with how color palettes, inspired by my travels and daily life, can encapsulate emotions tied to specific locations. Each piece is a distillation of these moments, offering viewers a chance to connect with the shared language of color while experiencing their own emotional resonance.
Alongside Here & There, my People We Love series uses a similar visual language to explore the ways color can represent the presence and memory of loved ones. By creating color portraits inspired by photographs, stories, and personal reflections, I translate the essence of individuals into abstract compositions. This series is a celebration of the people who shape our lives, inviting viewers to reflect on their own cherished connections through the lens of color.
